We are saddened by news of the death of Linda Faulkner Johnston, noted Dallas native and former Board member of the Turtle Creek Conservancy. Linda was born and raised in Dallas, attended Highland Park schools, and graduated from Vanderbilt University where she received a B.A. in Philosophy. Later in life, she studied English literature and earned a master’s degree in Theological Studies from the University of Dallas.

Linda led a storied life which touched multitudes of people, from her early work in programming at KERA to her PR work at Neiman Marcus to an exciting life in Washington D.C. While at Neiman’s, she met Letitia Baldridge who connected her to First Lady Nancy Reagan. Mrs. Reagan tapped Linda to be The Social Secretary for The White House and Special Assistant to President Reagan’s during his second term.

During her Washington years, she also met James Gilbert Johnston, the man who would become a dear friend and later her husband. Linda and Gilbert married in 2014. Linda served on numerous non-profit boards after her return to Dallas, one of which was Turtle Creek Conservancy (then known as Lee Park Conservancy). We are so grateful for her life, the impact she made, and for the time she spent supporting Turtle Creek Park.

Linda is survived by her husband, James Gilbert Johnston, father, Thomas P. Faulkner, brother Thomas P. Faulkner, Jr., his wife Cindy, her nephew Matthew, and niece Allie. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Harrison Faulkner.
