1924 STRUCTURE GETS A REFRESH

test

In June 2019, storms caused a loss of 15 trees throughout Turtle Creek Park. Several were lost on the park’s west side, and a couple hit the 1924 structure that was used as a restroom through part of the last century. The City of Dallas is using bond funds dedicated to the structure to make repairs and refurbish its exterior.

This past week, the building was preservation power-washed, remaining and salvaged tin shingles were removed for cleaning and restoration, loose paint was carefully sanded away, and the roof was sealed and waterproofed. The braces for the roof are in pretty good condition for being almost 100 years old! The project is expected to be completed by the beginning of October.
